Cold December

It is cold here in Oregon. For the past week we have had off and on snow. Yesterday and today it will not get above freezing. Its not that bad compared to the Minnesota storms Shelby grew up with, but it is bad when it is uneconomical to prepare for the one snow storm every 5 years that lasts more than 4 hours. Translation for all of you in the midwest....NO SALT ON THE ROADS. We are lucky to get gravel on the bus snow routes.

Thankfully we should have a couple days with highs close to 40 degrees, so we should be able to finish the Christmas shopping.

Judah is changing everyday. He has a wide array of vocal noises now and uses them differently in different situations. He is grasping at toys and will pass them back and forth between his hands. We estimate him at 16 lbs now.

Enjoy the photos!

These are the steps to my basement (and laundry room). They are under our covered porch, but were drifted in with snow.

Happy Holidays!
Judah is just over three months old and he's doing great! Thanksgiving went well, he met so many new family and had so much fun that he actually slept through the night that night. The Friday after Thanksgiving Grandma Ellen came to visit. This was also Shelby's first retail-free Black Friday since leaving Best Buy forever :) The following Monday Kate returned to work. Judah and Daddy come to visit Kate on her lunch breaks and its been going well. Judah is laughing more now, able to lift his head for longer periods during tummy time, and is chatting (cooing) up a storm. We are looking forward to Christmas and more time with family.

It has been too long since we updated the blog. A lot has happened..... Judah celebrated 2 months of life by watching Obama win the Presidential election.

His Dr's appointment at 9 weeks revealed that Judah weighed 14 lbs 5 oz and was 24.25 inches long. That put him in the 97th percentile.

Judah is smiling more and sometimes wants to have a conversation, but is a pretty serious baby. He really enjoys people watching. He is sleeping 7 to 8 hour stretches at night.

Shelby has one week of work left and Kate starts again in two weeks. Grandma Ellen will also be visiting after Thanksgiving.

I am adding an additional post of just photos.

8 weeks

Judah is smiling now and giving out coo's. He slept through the night last night.....but made enough noise in his sleep to wake us up anyway. 0-3 mos clothes are all to small for him and he fits into 6 mos clothes ok. Next week we will get a weight update, we are guessing 15 lbs give or take a little. In 3 days Judah will be 2 months old and we will stop using weeks for age.

I still like baths, but not smiling for cameras.

I'm thinking of smiling, but there's that camera.....

This would be so much more fun without a camera around.

I can't hide from that camera.

Stupid camera.

6+ weeks!

So, Judah is over 6 weeks old!! Let's see... what's new? Well, at Kate's check-up we had her hold judah on the scale and then weigh just her, and it turns out our little guy weighs over 13 pounds! And that was a week ago, so who knows where he's at now :) Judah loves the bath. Its a sure fire way to get a smile out of him. He hasn't really smiled AT people yet, he smiles at mom's voice and at other times, so it won't be long.
Judah slept for 6.75 hours!!! That was the most sleep Kate has gotten since she was pregnant. It only happened once, but it s good sign... maybe he'll do that a bit more.
We went to Tacoma to visit friends. Judah met Katie, Meghan, Melissa, Keja, and Jessica. It was good to leave town and have a little overnighter. Kate especially enjoyed playing MarioKart on the Wii. Shelby mostly kicked her butt though.
Shelby informed his employer of his plans to be a stay-at-home dad... take that holidays in retail!!!

They will be up until October 31st and prints can be ordered directly off the website.

The last week has been good. Shelby did his first canning on his own and made tomatoe sauce (we don't know how it turned out yet).

Kate has been doing a wonderful job, she is a great mom!

Judah keeps eating and growing.

Judah went to Grandpa Tom's for dinner and met Great Grandma Freida and Aunt Julie.

4 weeks!

We had one last week of heat and now fall is here. Shelby got a chance to climb Mt Saint Helens, then headed back to work.

Judah has been spending the days with Kate.

Enjoy the photos!

I'm 3 weeks old!

3 weeks went by? There is still no real routine. Other than laundry being an every day chore instead of a once a week chore yikes.
Grandpa Steve will be glad to know that Judah projectile pooped on his dad while being changed (we may have to limit visits if this behavior is encouraged whenever he sees him).

Judah is quickly outgrowing his newborn clothes and starting to wear 3 mos clothes most of the time. Feet are another story, 3 mos socks are to small.

As always...enjoy the photos.

Our photographer put a sneak preview up on her blog too. Check it out!

I'm growing up so FAST!

We took Judah to the Dr last Friday. He was 15 days old and weighed in at 9lbs 14oz a gain of 1lb 10oz. He also grew an inch and half to 21.75 inches.
I'm sure he is already over 10 lbs. It seems like every few days the car seat needs to be adjusted a little.

We are almost completely in cloth diapers now, so our new washer is getting a lot of use. I still like to use disposable for the really late at night ones when I am half a sleep. Oh well.

Here is a photo from Grandpa Steve's visit.

2 Weeks Old

2 weeks old! Wow!

Judah's days (and nights) consist of eating, sleeping, diaper changes, and some awake time.
He seems to be very interested when new people come to the house. This week he met Grandpa Steve (who visited from Wisconsin), Dan, Laura and Steve, and the Jacobson-Dunlops.

Tomorrow is the 2 week Dr appt, stay tuned for weight and updates.

Judah also made it to a photographer's house. He peed on basically every prop they had. We will pass on the link when they become available. If you are interested in seeing Kate's maternity photos from her here is the link
