Spring is Here 2011

Hello all! So sorry we haven't updated the blog in, well, almost a year. Yikes! Instead of recapping the past 9 months I'll just hit the high points.
We moved!! We have been living it up as Oregon City residents for one whole month now. We now live just 2 blocks from Kate's work which is pretty much amazing. She walks to work everday and is able to come home for lunches occasionally. The house is twice as big as our old place. Judah loves it. He keeps saying, "new house - happy" which is pretty darned cute.
Come to that, Judah is just freakin cute. We love this stage. Even the tantrums are tolerable because of how awesome he is the remainder of the time. He says hilarious things; for instance when we put a napkin in his shirt so he could eat soup sans spillage on shirt he instantly said, "a front cape!" Judah is now 2.5 years old. He loves to ride his bike and be outside in general. He also loves having his nails painted and glittering. He's well rounded :)
We found Ronald, our dog, a nice new home that is a way better fit for him.
As for other news.... Kate is pregnant. Expecting in September 2011, just like Judah. We are thrilled, of course.
Here are some pics of the new house and our gorgeous boy. Take care all!!!
Love,
Shelby, Kate, and Judah

Sundstrom visit, San Diego, and more!

Growing big! As far as milestones go Judah is talking a bit. Mommy and Daddy can understand him at least. Favorite words: KITTY (this is his most used word as well), more kitties, uh-oh kitties, milk, "and more," I fell, bubbles, bike, "I pooped". He runs with ease, stacks blocks, jumps, kicks a ball, and loves to splash around in the pool.
In April Shelby's mom, dad, AND grandpa all came out for a visit. Judah had a blast. He got is very first haircut during that visit. He did awesome! A little nervous, but sailed through it.
In May we all went to San Diego for a women's health conference. We hit the Museum of Man, San Diego Zoo, and Sea World all together. Shelby and Judah did the children's museum and Wild Animal Park while Kate was in the conference. There were lots of visits to the beach as well. Poor Judah had diarrhea the whole time but it didn't seem to phase him. We all got plenty of rest because mommy and daddy had to go to bed at 8pm just like Judah because we were all in one room.
June here in Oregon has been less than optimal in the weather department. We've only had one day suitable for naked backyard pool time and I didn't get any pictures of it. Next blog post is sure to include some of those. I will label the pictures below - they are not in chronological order.
Peace friends and family! - Kate

He loved the whales - maybe even on par with kitties? Also, check out his bed head that day :)

Welcome Spring!

Judah is basically awesome. He's 18, almost 19 months old and is a total blast to be around.
So far, still not a ton of talking but he does have a few words down including: Mama, Dad, dog, ball, uh-oh, buhbye, baby and the ever-present, WOA!! He says woa right before or during jumping off of something.
Shelby and Judah try to make it to the pool about once per week. Judah loves it. Whenever we are at a children's museum type of place he head straight for the water play. As you can see below and in past posts - Judah is big into bathtime. In short; Judah + water = happiness.
Another obsession of Judah's - CATS. Oh my goodness this kid and his cats. Whenever he sees or just plan wishes he was looking at cat (90 times a day) he tries to say cat and does this sweet motion that means whiskers. He thinks the only purpose of our computer is to google image search cat pictures.
He's tall and not chubby. He eats, mostly on the go. Favorite foods: chicken, sauteed spinach, black beans, pears, and tangerines.
Please enjoy the pictures below. We have thought about cutting his hair, but we aren't ready yet :) We get that question a lot. Usually its right after "she's so pretty." Love to all you!! - Kate

Growing big and strong 12-16 months

Happy New Year! Judah is almost 16 months old and growing nice and big (and strong). He can run, kick a ball, climb on everything, eat with a fork with suprising accuracy, throw everything, and is working on putting his socks on. Still no real words yet although he does have "uh-oh" pretty much mastered.
Below are some photos of Christmas and Grandma Ellen's visit that took place in early December. Other random cute pics are thrown in. We will work on being more consistent with the blog this year.

Excited!

1 year and beyond

horses at the fair

fair!

Now that we're over the year mark Judah's been eating a larger variety of food including cheese and mac and cheese. He seems to like spicy and heavily spiced foods which might have been why baby food was such a struggle. He's walking and loves to hang out at the playground. He says mama although it seems to be somewhat random. Occasionally you can tell its purposeful. Oh my, he dances too which is basically the cutest thing. We'll have to get a video up soon :)

1 YEAR!

Thanks for the cake Aunt Jackie!

Presents!

Foot meets frosting

Above are some shots of Judah's birthday party. It was super fun and special thanks to Kari and Cale who let us use their house due to rain. Thanks to all who helped us celebrate an amazing year. Judah started walking full-time at his party. Gave everyone quite the show. He had taken a couple of steps here and there, but decided his party was the place to really show his new abilities!

11 months

Wow we are quickly approaching the 1 year mark. Was it fast or slow...hmmm....BOTH!

We are having a party on Sept 5th to celebrate Judah's first year! It is at Sellwood Park in Portland at 3pm. Just bring a side dish and let Kate or Shelby know you are coming.

Judah keeps on developing. His newest focus has been "figuring stuff out". He figured out how to pull shirts and bibs off his head, and gets upset when he can't put them back on. Toys that used to ilicit random hand slamming to make noises are now careful movement of individual parts for desired effect. He is turning pages in books more often than just trying to chew on them. He is still super mobile and very fast. No steps yet, but he reaches across further and further gaps every day while standing.

Judah is getting two more teeth on top for a total of 6. He has really taken to eating, which is good since he constantly burns calories crawling all over everything. Currently his favorite food "whatever is on mom's plate" and not whatever we carefullt made him.

Yesterday Judah met his Great Uncle Brian and Great Aunt Judy. We had a very nice visit and Judah loved meeting their dog who actually let Judah pet him and licked his face instead of running away. (I'll post pictures as soon as I get them).
